| The Michigan
AmeriCorps members serve throughout the State of Michigan as
Patient Self-Management Specialists, Community Outreach Specialists,
School-based and School-linked Community Outreach Specialists,
Literacy Outreach Specialists, and Public Health Outreach Specialists
in order to further improve the health status of Michigan citizens.

Member
Eligibility
All applicants
must meet the following requirements:
- At least
17 years of age
- US Citizenship/US
National
- High school
diploma/GED
Member
Positions
Patient Self-Management
Specialists assist multi-disciplinary clinical staff at Community
Health Centers (CHCs) with programs that help patients become more
proactive in the management of their chronic illness.
Community Outreach
Specialists develop collaborations that increase access to health
care, provide information about services available, assist with
enrollment in health plans, educate on preventative health care,
and promote health literacy through culturally relevant tools.
Member Benefits
Living AllowanceFull-time
members will be paid a living allowance of $11,100 for their first
term of service.
Education
AwardUpon successful completion of the member's term of
service, full-time members will receive an education award up to
$4,725 from the National Service Trust.
Health InsuranceAll
full-time members are eligible to receive basic health insurance.
The coverage is at no cost to the members.
Child CareAny
AmeriCorps member who is a legal parent or guardian, residing with
the child, may be eligible for childcare assistance.
