Michigan Primary Care Association is committed to working with members and partner agencies to better understand and respond to the Homeless On The Streetneeds of homeless individuals and families.

The State of Homelessness in Michigan 2008 Annual Summary reports that there are 86,189 homeless people in Michigan. A few additional facts:
  • Since the 2007 count of 78,266, there has been an increase of 10.1% homeless people in Michigan
  • In 69% of homeless families, a single female is the head of the household
  • 54% of homeless persons in families are children
  • 19% of homeless adults reported as being disabled
  • Average age of homeless adults is 32.7 years old
  • Average age of homeless children is 7.6 years old
  • 42% reported being homeless for the first time in 2008
