Important Update to Michigan State Loan Repayment Program Application Period Opening January 1
Tuesday, December 16, 2014
Significant changes to the Michigan State Loan Repayment Program (MSLRP) have been announced for the Fiscal Year 2016 application cycle that opens January 1, 2015.
Starting this year, selection criteria have changed and applications will be reviewed in cohorts depending on their submission date (e.g. all applications submitted in January will be reviewed together and selection determinations will be made with the intent to notify providers and employers sooner, and applications made in subsequent months will be processed similarly). This means that if enough applications are submitted in the early months and are selected for award, there is a chance that funding will be exhausted prior to the end of the application cycle on April 30.
Also new this year, providers are now eligible to participate in the MSLRP for up to 8 years, including providers who have previously completed 4 years of MSLRP participation.
Eligible providers with qualifying debt who are interested in participating in the MSLRP next year are encouraged to submit their application early in the application period to increase the likelihood of being selected for an award.
