As of January 15, 2015, the Family Health Center of Battle Creek is now named Grace Health.

“This represents a significant step in our 29-year history. The new name clarifies our identity, highlights our mission, and removes any confusion that arises between our Health Center and others in the surrounding area and state,” said A.J. Jones, ND, Grace Health’s President and Chief Executive Officer.

“Having the word ‘grace’ as part of our name will serve as a constant reminder of who we are, what we do, and how we do it. It means we provide health care with kindness, being thoughtful and considerate, decent, merciful, and benevolent.”

The Family Health Center of Battle Creek—now Grace Health—opened in 1986 in response to the community’s need for OB/GYN and primary health care services. Since then, it has continually responded to community need by expanding its menu of services. Today, the Federally Qualified Health Center and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan designated Patient-Centered Medical Home offers pediatric care; ear, nose and throat and audiology services; dental care; internal medicine; 24-hour telephone nurse services; behavioral health care services; and Spanish translation.

The Health Center has also expanded physically throughout its history. It added a second location in Albion in 2003; expanded and renovated the Battle Creek facility in 2006 and 2010; and opened a new OB/GYN center in 2014.

Today, Grace Health is the health care home for nearly 27,000 Calhoun County residents annually, and employs over 50 medical and dental providers and 235 support staff.

“Yes, we will have a new name but our heart and soul remain in service to our patients and the community. We strive to improve the lives of our patients through our services, our partnership with patients to help them become more knowledgeable and responsible for their own health, and our commitment to wellness—emotional, physical, and spiritual,” said Jones.
