When parents read to their infants, a positive association with reading begins. That's why Taylor Reading Corps, Western Wayne Family Health Center and Taylor Teen Health Center have partnered to distribute more than 300 books to new mothers.
Partnering with local pediatricians and Health Centers to help ensure young children enter school ready to learn is the goal of the program. The initiative is modeled after a national program, Reach Out and Read, and experts with the national program indicate when pediatricians promote reading, parents listen to their advice.
