Governor Snyder Seeks Federal Waiver to Expand Medicaid Services in Flint

On February 14, 2016, Michigan Governor Rick Snyder submitted a request to expand Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program for up to 21 years of age and women who are pregnant in Flint.
The request includes dedicating case managers to help Flint residents with coordinating primary care physicians and behavioral health providers, Medicaid health plans and others to ensure access to all necessary health services; providing nutrition support; and improving access to educational and social supports and services that may be available in the community to assist them with individual needs.
Individuals eligible for coverage include anyone up to 21 years of age and are being served or were served by Flint's water system between April 2014 until a future date when the water is deemed safe as well as pregnant women and their future children will be eligible.
