NWMHS Staff Participates in Effort to Increase Healthy Food Awareness

The Healthy Families of Oceana County (HFOC) Coalition is working hard to educate residents on the healthy good choices available at two grocery stores in Shelby and Hart.
HFOC coalition members created special signs to remind shoppers to add more fruits and vegetables to your diet can help you maintain a healthy weight as well as labeling healthy foods throughout the store.
Kim Lyons, a staff member of Northwest Michigan Health Services, Inc., a Federally Qualified Health Center in Traverse City, volunteers for the HFOC. Over the last few months, the HFOC coalition has also worked with area restaurants and food pantries to encourage healthy food choices.
