HRSA Grant Doubled to Provide Additional Services in Flint
Thursday, April 7, 2016
On April 1, 2016, Health Resources and Services Administration announced an $8 million grant to support Maternal, Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting Program in Michigan.
This grant is more than double what Michigan received in 2015 ($3.5 million); noting the added need for visits to occur in Flint due to the water crisis. The funds will help pay for programs that allow nurses, social workers and other professionals to visit pregnant women and families with young children to provide support for preventive health and helping mothers secure prenatal care, improve diets and reduce and/or eliminate tobacco, alcohol and illegal substance use.
