Registration Open for 2016 MPCA Legislative Forum

Registration is now open for the 2016 Michigan Primary Care Association (MPCA) Legislative Forum. Please join us on March 8, 2016, for the annual event and learn about current state policy and the legislative environment as it pertains to health care. Attendees will have an opportunity to talk one-on-one with State Legislators and their staff about MPCA's policy priorities for the year as well as build and nurture relationships with State Legislators. 

Several pre-Legislative Forum activities will take place on Monday, March 7 at the Radisson Lansing at the Capitol, including a Health Center Board Member Committee and Training meeting, MPCA Board Meeting, MPCA Membership Meeting and MPCA Membership Dinner.  Click here for additional information and to register.

A pre-Legislative Forum conference call is scheduled for March 3 from 3 - 4 pm ET and all registered attendees are encouraged to call in to learn more about MPCA's 2016 policy priorities.

MQIN Membership - Renew or Join Today

Don’t miss your opportunity to renew your membership or join the Michigan Primary Care Association's (MPCA) Michigan Quality Improvement Network (MQIN), Michigan's Health Center Controlled Network (HCCN). 

Members of MQIN receive support from peers, MPCA staff and consultants to improve performance, optimize resources and leverage influence to create a supportive environment for Health Centers.

There is no cost to join, yet many benefits to gain. As identified by Health Resources and Services Administration, the core objectives of the HCCN are:

Health IT Implementation & Meaningful Use

  • Support the adoption, use, and optimization of certified Electronic Health Records.
  • Assist with meeting Meaningful Use requirements for Stages 1, 2 and 3. 

Data Quality and Reporting

  • Provide strategies to enhance data validity for reporting, aggregation and analysis.
  • Support enhanced data reporting at Health Center sites and clinical team levels.
  • Support the integration of health data across all service types provided by the Health Center.

Health Information Exchange & Population Health Management

  • Support secure health information exchange among unaffiliated providers or entities. 
  • Support population health management activities leveraging health information across different care settings.

Quality Improvement

  • Support use of health IT to enhance performance on clinical quality measures.
  • Support use of health IT to support Health Center operational excellence. 
  • Assist Health Centers in using health IT to advance their respective Patient-Centered Medical Home recognition and implementation efforts.
To learn more, an informational webinar will be held on Friday, January 29, 2016, from 9:30 to 10:30 am ET.

The webinar will provide additional information, an update on the achievements of MQIN, discuss the goals for the next round of funding and provide details on the requirements for renewing membership for current members and the process to join if you are not a member. The webinar is intended for the CEO, CMO, CFO, COO, Clinical, IT and QI leadership at any Michigan Federally Qualified Health Center.

The deadline to become a renewed or new MQIN member (along with a signed Memorandum of Agreement) is February 5, 2016. Memorandum of Agreements for renewing and new memberships can be accessed here.

Communication Intern Position Available at MPCA

Michigan Primary Care Association is looking for a communications intern who is currently enrolled at a college/university in a communication or marketing program to assist with social media, website maintenance, press communications, graphic design and other communication-focused activities. This is a paid internship with a four to six month scope.

Applications for 2016 School Wellness Award Now Being Accepted

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) is excited to launch the 2016 School Wellness Award. The award aims to engage schools statewide in creating healthy school environments by establishing School Health Teams, completing the Healthy School Action Tools (HSAT) and implementing sustainable policy and environmental changes.

Schools are invited to apply for the award by April 20, 2016. MDHHS, in collaboration with the Michigan Department of Education, United Dairy Industry of Michigan, Action for Healthy Kids and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, will recognize schools making significant improvements to their school environments related to healthy eating, physical activity and tobacco-free lifestyles. Schools taking exemplary steps to improve the health of students and staff will be recognized this spring at a special award ceremony at the state Capitol.

UDS Report Due February 15 

The deadline for filing the 2015 UDS Report is quickly approaching. On February 15, 2016, all Section 330 grantees must complete and file their 2015 UDS data.
