Deadline for Collecting “Access is the Answer” Support Letters is Here
Tomorrow, May 31st is the deadline for collecting 5 "Access is the Answer" letters of support from local elected officials and 10 "Access is the Answer" letters of support from community partners. Once you’ve collected letters in support of your Health Center, please report your results to NACHC, and then schedule a meeting with your Members of Congress during a Congressional Recess Week—either at your Health Center or at their district office—to present to them hardcopy "Access is the Answer" petition signatures and support letters collected by your Health Center. If you have questions about the letter collection, please contact Dana Lawrence. If you would like help inviting elected officials to your Health Center or scheduling a meeting with them, please contact Doug Paterson.

National Health Center Week 2014 Webinar Recording Available
In case you missed the National Health Center Week kick-off webinar that the National Association of Community Health Centers hosted last week, you can watch the recording and access the slides on the NHCW website. Be sure to post your event to the interactive online map to let everyone know the "who, what, where, and when" for your Health Center's NHCW celebration. Also be sure to check out the NHCW website at for tools, templates, and other resources. MPCA looks forward to celebrating #NHCW2014 with you August 10-16!



MPCA Hosts "Triple Play: Addressing Multiple Initiatives, Data & Sustainability" Event
It was a packed house for the interactive learning lab, “Triple Play: Addressing Multiple Initiatives, Data & Sustainability,” that MPCA hosted on May 21, 2014. Thank you to Peter Cucchiara and his team from Primary Care Development Corporation for sharing principles, practices, dashboards, and models of integrated approaches to building a framework for making a triple play strategy successful. Tools and resources presented during the learning lab are posted on MPCA’s website.

2014 Great Lakes Medical/Dental Summit Presentations, Resources Available Online
MPCA was honored to co-sponsor the 2014 Great Lakes Medical/Dental Summit in partnership with the Primary Care Associations from Illinois and Ohio, in collaboration with the DentaQuest Foundation, on May 9-10 in Indianapolis. Presentations and resources from the summit, which focused on promoting oral health integration within the medical home model, are now available on MPCA's website.

Reminder: Retirement Celebration Honoring Neal Colburn June 17
Veteran MPCA staff member Neal Colburn has announced his retirement in June. To celebrate Neal's service and contributions to MPCA, Michigan Health Centers, and the Health Center movement, MPCA is hosting a celebration in his honor on Tuesday, June 17 at 3 pm at the MPCA office in Lansing. You are cordially invited to join the celebration, and to send cards or electronic congratulations in advance. Healthy Michigan Plan Enrollment Now Over 269,000
As of May 27th, 269,473 Michiganders are enrolled in the Healthy Michigan Plan. (Enrollment statistics are updated every Monday at 3 pm and posted on the MDCH website.) MPCA has updated its enrollment analysis by county. This report also includes information on the percentage of Healthy Michigan Plan enrollees that have enrolled in a Medicaid health plan by county. As of May 1, 63% of HMP enrollees statewide chose a health plan and 37% were auto assigned a plan.

BPHC Hosting Technical Assistance Webinar on Scope Alignments

The Bureau of Primary Health Care (BPHC) is hosting a webinar on June 10, 2014, at 2-3:30 pm ET to review the updates to Scope of Project Forms 5A and 5B announced in PAL 2014-06. BPHC will also provide details on the upcoming scope alignment validation opportunity for Health Centers. Click here for call-in and log-in information. 

AARP Kicks Off Health Decisions "Listen to Michigan" Tour
The AARP kicked off a series of discussions and informational meetings across the state this week focused on topics such as navigating health reform, Medicare, long-term care, and caregiving issues and solutions. The first stop was in Lansing on May 27. Up next are stops in Grand Rapids, Traverse City, Detroit, Marquette, Kalamazoo, and Jackson. The sessions are free and open to all Michiganders and registration is recommended. AARP will invite local organizations to the tour stops to lend further assistance during a Q&A session. Read more
