Health Center Board Governance
Share |

A unique feature of the Health Center model is that each Health Center is governed by a community board composed of a majority of patients who use the Health Center and represent the population served. This ensures Health Centers are providing services based on and responsive to community need. Health Center board members volunteer their time and expertise to guide the work of their Health Center, and many are actively involved in other local organizations within the community.

Michigan Primary Care Association hosts monthly webinars on governance topics, and it hosts a spring training for Michigan Health Center board members and executive directors so they can gather tools and information to increase their effectiveness in governing. There is also opportunity for peer networking.
