Peer Communication Networks

MPCA-hosted and facilitated Peer Communication Networks promote information sharing, educational opportunities, and peer-to-peer networking among individuals from Michigan Health Centers, MPCA member organizations, and partnering organizations. Network members have opportunities to participate in conference calls, webinars, face-to-face meetings, and electronic listservs and other forums to discuss issues, share best practices, learn from each other and outside experts, and problem solve. How to Join a Network

To join one or more MPCA-hosted Peer Communication Network listed below, please contact the staff liaison listed.

 

Advocacy Network

  • Open to Michigan Health Center grassroots advocacy coordinators (Michigan Health Center staff and board members as appointed by their CEO/executive director)
  • Meets periodically via conference call, webinar, and face-to-face to discuss advocacy issues impacting Health Centers
  • Members keep Health Center CEOs/executive directors and board members briefed on current policy and advocacy issues
  • Help recruit and retain Health Center advocates
  • Encourage advocates affiliated with their Health Center to take action when they receive calls to action from Michigan Primary Care Association and the National Association of Community Health Centers
  • Promote and coordinate interaction between Health Center leadership/board members and elected officials about the value of Health Centers in their community and current issues needing attention
  • Update advocates on state and federal issues impacting their Health Center by sharing information provided by MPCA and NACHC

Billing Network

  • Open to all Michigan Health Center billing managers, billing/coding staff, patient accounts staff and organizations in the FQHC development process
  • Meets bi-monthly via conference call with periodic webinar trainings and face-to-face meetings
  • Discusses a wide-range of topics from billing policy to collection procedures and payment plans
  • Maintains an electronic listserv for sharing billing best practices and soliciting timely feedback on billing issues

Behavioral Health Directors Network

  • Open to all Michigan Health Center Behavioral Health Directors
  • Supports peer-to-peer mentoring opportunities

Chief Medical Officers (CMO) Network
  • Open to all Michigan Health Center Chief Medical Officers
  • Meets quarterly via teleconference and periodic face-to-face meetings
  • Offers opportunities for sharing effective treatment plans, the presentation of case studies, planning educational events, exploring research opportunities, and discussing policy/advocacy issues
  • Maintains a CMO roster and distribution list for sharing information relevant to clinical leadership
  • Supports peer-to-peer mentoring opportunities

MPCA Staff Liaison: Faiyaz Syed, Associate Director, Clinical Services 

Clinicians Network

  • Open to Michigan Health Center clinicians (medical, behavioral health, oral health)
  • Maintains an electronic listserv supporting peer-to-peer learning and to serve as a forum for announcing educational opportunities, clinical news, health alerts, and policy/advocacy issues
  • Hosts an annual conference and other educational events

Communications Network

  • Open to Michigan Health Center communications professionals 
  • Meets periodically via conference call, webinar, and face-to-face to discuss communications issues 
  • Shares Health Center events and news with MPCA

Dental Directors Network

  • Open to Michigan Health Center Dental Directors
  • Meets via teleconference and periodic face-to-face meetings
  • Offers a forum for sharing effective treatment models, planing educational events, exploring research opportunities, and discussing policy/advocacy issues
  • Maintains a Dental Director roster and distribution list for sharing information relevant to clinical leadership
  • Supports peer-to-peer mentoring opportunities

EHR/EDR User Groups

  • Open to all Michigan Health Centers using Nextgen, SuccessEHS, eClinical Works, Dentrix, and QSi
  • Meets via teleconference and period face-to-face meetings
  • Offers opportunities for peer-to-peer sharing and learning inclusive of clinical, IT, and administrative perspectives
  • Discusses issues related to the use, functionality, and application of the above mentioned EHR/EDR platforms
  • Maintains a webpage for all user groups

Homeless Health Network

  • Open to Michigan Health Center staff interested in networking with peers to expand access to quality, comprehensive services to those experiencing homelessness.

  • Meets regularly via conference call to discuss a wide range of finance-related issues
  • Holds periodic finance workshops
  • Contributes agenda for MPCA Annual Conference

Fund Development Network

  • Open to Michigan Health Center staff responsible for fund development
  • Meets regularly via conference call to discuss a wide range of fund development-related issues

Health Center Board Member Committee Network

  • Open to Michigan Health Centers' board of directors

  • Ongoing communication via email regarding governance

Integrated Care Network

  • Open to clinicians and clinical administrators working in an integrated setting or interested in ways to integrate care delivery more effectively
  • Addresses the unique challenges of integrating behavioral health services into the primary care setting
  • Provides opportunities for trainings, webinars, and conferences hosted by both MPCA and outside organizations also working on integrating behavioral health and primary care services
  • Maintains an electronic listserv for sharing/soliciting best practices for integrating behavioral health and primary care

LGBT Health Network

  • Open to all Health Center staff interested in networking with peers to expand access to quality care for the LGBTQ population.
  • This is a forum to share and learn about best practices and to receive relevant updates regarding LGBT health Care

Migrant Health Network

  • Open to executive directors and/or designated staff of Michigan Migrant Health Centers, as well as individuals representing organizations with which Migrant Health Centers closely work
  • Meets quarterly via conference call
  • Information shared on relevant topics such as licensed housing list, educational opportunities and articles of interest

Operations Network

  • Open to Michigan Health Center operations and site management staff
  • Meets periodically via webinar or in conjunction with MPCA events
