The School Nurse is primarily responsible for providing health services in a school-based setting. The School Nurses will triage and treat student injuries or illnesses, assist and support students with chronic illnesses, and provides education and guidance to students, parents or guardians, and school staff on health issues and wellness. The School Nurse may provide other nursing services within scope of licensure or as assigned.

Experience and Skills
Required:
– Minimum of two (2) years full-time work experience in direct patient care as an RN
– Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and connect with pediatric populations
– Experience providing health-related education to students/patients of varying ages
– Experience or ability to effectively present information in small group situations to students, parent/guardians, providers, staff, and others
– Experience using office equipment including but not limited to computers, fax machines, multi-line telephone and copiers and possess effective typing skills
– Experience utilizing an electronic health record
– Functional abilities using Microsoft Office products
Preferred:
– Previous experience working in a school-based health clinic or program
– Previous experience providing direct patient care with pediatric populations or working in a pediatric clinic
– Experience using both eCW and Azara
– Experience utilizing telehealth equipment
– Experience developing educational programs on health-related topics
– Experience and comfort level in public speaking
– Prior work experience working at a Federally Qualified Health Center or other integrated clinic setting that provides medical, dental, and behavioral health services or a combination of these services.
Education, Training, Licensing and Credentialing
Required:
- Current State of Michigan, unrestricted RN license
- Current BLS certification
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in nursing
