Last week the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced the latest round of enrollment data for the Health Insurance Marketplace as of February 1, 2014. HHS publishes such data every month, including demographics on enrollees, plan selection, financial assistance, and Medicaid/CHIP eligibility assessments. MPCA has posted a Michigan-specific analysis on its blog "infused with a little editorial context."

Meanwhile, the Kaiser Family Foundation recently released an in-depth report that offers insight into the attitudes and health care experiences of adults at the start of Affordable Care Act (ACA) implementation, and points us in the right direction for outreach and enrollment going forward. Click here for MPCA's analysis of the report, Uninsured at the Starting Line: Findings from the 2013 Kaiser Survey of Low-Income Americans and the ACA. What people shared about their experiences with health insurance, how they access health care, and the obstacles they face is informative as we understand the challenges of open enrollment and adapt to meet the needs.

Lastly, the Washington Post's Wonkblog featured a post last week on how Enroll America is working with partners such as MPCA in this final stretch of open enrollment, which includes mapping to show where uninsured Americans live such as in the Thumb area of Michigan. Check out how the Center for Family Health and MidMichigan Community Health Services are increasing awareness in their communities about the new health insurance options through the Marketplace.
