HRSA Announces Availability of New Access Point Funding

The Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) announced today the availability of $100 million in New Access Point funding to expand access to primary care through an estimated 150 new Health Center sites across the country in 2015. Application due dates are August 20, 2014 (, and October 7, 2014 (EHB).

Please visit the website to access the New Access Point funding opportunity announcement detailing the eligibility requirements, review criteria, and awarding factors for organizations seeking a grant for operational support of new access points in fiscal year (FY) 2015. The maximum annual amount of Health Center Program funding that can be requested in a New Access Point application is $650,000.

As stated in the announcement, “Organizations that received initial Health Center Program funding in FY 2013 or 2014 are eligible to apply for NAP funding if at least one site has been verified operational by the application submission date (pg. ii)."

The application submission process for HRSA-15-016: New Access Points involves a two-step submission process via and the HRSA Electronic Handbooks (EHB):
Phase 1: Must be completed and successfully submitted via by August 20, 2014.
Phase 2: Must be completed and successfully submitted via EHB by October 7, 2014.

HRSA is hosting a New Access Point applicant technical assistance call on Thursday, July 17, 2014, at 1:30 pm ET. Information is available on the HRSA website.

MPCA staff is reviewing the New Access Point guidance to become familiar with the new requirements. Additionally, we will be putting together a review committee to review any and all parts of applications prior to submission - more information will be available soon.

If you would like a letter of support for your application from MPCA, the Michigan Department of Community Health, or Medicaid, please submit an abstract and a request to Andrea Charlton by August 29, 2014.
