On August 28, Governor Rick Snyder announced that he accepted the resignation of Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) Director Jim Haveman, who is stepping down effective September 12 to focus on his health. MDCH Deputy Director Nick Lyon has been appointed as the next director.

"We have so greatly enjoyed the partnership that has developed between Director Haveman and Michigan’s Health Centers. We will miss him, but look forward to working closely with Director Lyon as Michigan continues to strive to meet and exceed the goals set for us all by Governor Snyder," said Kim Sibilsky, CEO, Michigan Primary Care Association.

"Jim was the right person, in the right job, at the right time” said Doug Paterson, Director of State Policy, Michigan Primary Care Association. "I truly believe that he was a major factor in the passage of the Healthy Michigan Plan (Michigan’s Medicaid expansion). We will be forever grateful for all he did to advance the mission of MPCA and Michigan Health Centers increasing access to all.”
