MidMichigan Community Health Services "Healthy Michigan Plan Makes Sense"

In April 2014, Michigan launched the Healthy Michigan Plan, expanding Medicaid coverage to patients with incomes at or below 133% of the federal poverty level. This plan now provides health care coverage to more than 585,000 previously uninsured Michigan residents, including 1,874 residents in Roscommon County, 1,657 in Gladwin County, and 2,523 in Clare County.

“At MidMichigan Community Health Services, our mission is to ensure affordable access to healthcare in our communities, with a particular emphasis on access for the underserved,” said Jim Raschke, executive director. “We are in a unique position to have witnessed the significant and measurable benefits that the Healthy Michigan Plan has delivered. Most importantly, it has enabled low-income families to receive necessary primary and preventive health care, which reduces their need for more expensive acute care.”
