Michigan Unemployment Rate Falls to 4.9% in January

On March 9, 2016, the Department of Technology, Management and Budget  announced Michigan’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell in January to 4.9 percent, down 0.2 percentage points, as the state’s workforce and total employment rose.

The workforce rose by 27,000 and total employment was up by 33,000. It is the first time since 2001 that Michigan’s unemployment rate is below 5 percent.
