Emergency Management Resources

CMS Emergency Management Resources

TornadoEmergency management is the organized analysis, planning, decision-making, and assignment of available resources to mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from the effects of all hazards. The goal of emergency management is to save lives, prevent injuries, and protect property and the environment if an emergency occurs. ~ FEMA

Michigan Primary Care Association (MPCA) works with many local, state, and national partners to assist Health Centers in emergency preparedness planning and response. MPCA also provides information to partners about the role of Health Centers in their community at all times, and the potential role of Health Centers in the event of an emergency.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Office of Public Health Preparedness and MPCA commissioned the 2010 Emergency Preparedness Survey to inventory the current levels of preparedness of Michigan Health Centers. Reports on findings, gaps, and improvement recommendations are intended to provide guidance and resources to move Michigan Health Centers to improved readiness. Agencies invested their time in assessing their readiness to respond to agency, local, regional, and national emergencies. Their participation is helping to increase awareness of the critical role that Health Centers play every day for their patients and their communities. Templates and materials developed as a result of this project can be found on the Emergency Management Resources webpage.
