CFO

Family Medical Center of Michigan, Inc., (FMC) is a progressive, not-for-profit community health center (FQHC) with more than 44 years of experience serving Monroe, southwestern Wayne and southeastern Lenawee Counties of Michigan.

Family Medical Center of Michigan, Inc, is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer in our Temperance, MI location.

The Chief Finance Officer serves as the focal point for the financial operations for the Family Medical Center.

Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Chief Financial Officer is directly accountable for the overall financial operations and all financial reporting for the Center.

The Chief Financial Officer participates in Board of Directors’ committee meetings and regular meetings, as requested.

Utilizing Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, develops, evaluates and manages the Center’s financial activities including traditional A/P, A/R and G/l activities, cost accounting, allocation, as well as payroll, accounts payable, patient accounts/medical billing, cash flow, general accounting retirement and 401(k) plan and financial reporting for the Board of Trustees and other governmental entities.

The CFO Coordinates all financial activities and provides financial analyses, implements internal audit programs, and prepares reports and recommendations to further the financial well-being of the Center.

The CFO oversees the accounting department, including the staff accountants and finance clerk, as well as the patient accounts department, including the revenue cycle manager, billing/coding and credentialing specialist. The CFO also coordinates activities related to payroll.

This is not a remote position.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  1. Financial day to day operations knowledge.
  2. Management experience with multiple departments and direct reports, including accounting, revenue cycle management and credentialing.
  3. Ability to organize activities, keep accurate records, and complete reports as needed/requested.
  4. Experience in excellent customer service delivery.
  5. Excellent skills in communication (verbal and written) with the ability to impart information and relate effectively with Center’s management, co-workers and others.
  6. Must establish and maintain harmonious, productive working relationships with Center’s management, co-workers and others.
  7. Possess the ability to accept direction, constructive criticism and carry out assigned duties of this position independently or with only minimal supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. An advanced degree in finance, accounting or related discipline.
  2. 7 years progressive financial experience
  3. 5 years supervisory experience with multiple departments and direct reports preferred.
  4. Proficient in mainframe accounting and PC based systems
  5. Healthcare experience preferred
  6. Grants Administration experience preferred
  7. Experience with the reporting and operating requirements of primary care programs funded by the U.S. Public Health Service, the state of Michigan and other grant programs is preferred
