March is Kidney Month for Kidney Disease Awareness

March is Kidney Month, and the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan (NKFM) is on a mission to raise awareness about kidney disease and the risks associated with it. Did you know that over a million Michigan adults have chronic kidney disease, and most don’t know it?

The “Are You The 33%?” campaign aims to shed light on the fact that 33% of adults in the United States are at risk for kidney disease – that’s 1 in every 3 people. Early detection is crucial.

Here are some ways to act now:
1. Visit NKFM’s Kidney Disease page to learn more about the risks and facts.
2. Take the Kidney Risk quiz to find out if you are in the 33%.
3. Share your quiz results with your doctor and ask about getting tested with a simple urine and blood test.
4. Spread the word to family and friends.

Together, we can make a difference! Knowledge is power, and early detection can save lives.
