SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the Dental Director and in collaboration with the Dental Administrator; diagnoses and treats diseases, injuries, and malformation of teeth and gums, and all other related oral structures by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS including the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Diagnoses and provide appropriate dental treatment to patients, including oral surgery, root canals, periodontal treatment, surgical extractions, and fillings
Constructs oral prostheses to replace missing teeth and other oral structures to correct natural and acquired deformation of mouth and jaws, to restore and maintain oral function
Maximize the use of Muskegon Family Care’s Dental Lab by submitting Rx’s for dentures (Baltic Denture System) and crowns.
Accurately Interprets x-rays and diagnostic tests
Refers patients to specialty offices that are approved by Muskegon Family Care
Manages medical/dental history with a comprehensive evaluation of the patient’s general health.
Educates patients and parents of patients on maintaining proper oral health
Provides oversight for PA 161 Dental Hygienist and U of M Dental Students
Participates in CQI activities for dental service and meet meaningful use measures.
Effectively communicate with dental staff regarding patient treatment plans
Ability to accurately and efficiently navigate through Dentrix
Carefully document all medications, diagnoses, treatments and consultations into Dentrix
Maintenance of infection control standards as required by OSHA
Utilizes the e-prescribing tool when prescribing medications
Regular and prompt attendance at work
Maintains a courteous, helpful and conscientious attitude in dealing with co-workers and patients and their families ensuring professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
All other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, LICENSES AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Doctoral degree (D.D.S. or D.M.D.); residency or fellowship training preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Current State of Michigan Dentist License. Controlled Substance License. Current DEA License.
