Advanced Practice Provider- MidMichigan Community Health Service Coleman School Base Clinic

This position is part time for a School Base Health Clinic.

General Summary of Duties:

The Advanced Practice Provider provides a full range of family medical services from general preventative care to ongoing acute and chronic illness management.

An experienced PA or NP in a busy and established practice. On call responsibilities in a rotation with other providers. Will see patients from pediatrics to geriatrics, including immunization maintenance to chronic disease management.

Supervision Received:

Reports directly to the Chief Medical Officer

Typical Physical Demands:

Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for prolonged periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires normal visual acuity and hearing. Requires exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids. Requires working under stress.

Typical Working Conditions:

Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.

Performance Requirements:

  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Knowledge of professional medical practice and the ability to give and evaluate patient care. Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations and procedures to administer patient care.
    • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of medicine to provide on-going patient care. Skill in taking medical history, assessing medical condition and interpreting findings. Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports and responding to correspondence. Skill in developing and maintaining quality services and quality improvement program. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public. Ability to maintain quality control standards. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures. Ability to communicate clearly.

Education:

  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.

Experience:

  • New graduates welcome.

License:

  • Current state license to practice.
  • DEA and state controlled substances licenses also required.
